Full Itinerary

Day 1: Lemosho Gate to Mti Mkubwa (Big Tree) Camp

Embark on your Lemosho Route adventure from the Lemosho Gate at an elevation of 2,385 meters (7,825 feet). The initial leg leads you through the lush rainforest, teeming with diverse flora and fauna. After an immersive trek, arrive at Mti Mkubwa (Big Tree) Camp at 2,820 meters (9,252 feet), where you'll set up camp and spend the night surrounded by the natural beauty of Kilimanjaro.

Day 2: Mti Mkubwa Camp to Shira 1 Camp

Continue your ascent through varying ecosystems, transitioning from the rainforest to the heath and moorland zones. The trail unveils panoramic views as you cross the Shira Plateau. Your day concludes at Shira 1 Camp, situated at 3,505 meters (11,500 feet), offering a serene setting for your overnight stay.

Day 3: Shira 1 Camp to Shira 2 Camp

Traverse the captivating Shira Plateau, where the landscape shifts dramatically. As you ascend, appreciate the unique features of the alpine desert. Reach Shira 2 Camp at 3,850 meters (12,631 feet), immersing yourself in the high-altitude environment before settling in for the night.

Day 4: Shira 2 Camp to Barranco Camp

Navigate the alpine desert, reveling in breathtaking views of Kilimanjaro's peaks. Your journey takes you to Barranco Camp at 3,960 meters (12,992 feet), nestled in the iconic Barranco Valley. Conquer the Barranco Wall, an exhilarating climb, before retiring to camp for the night.

Day 5: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

Ascend further, overcoming the challenges of the Barranco Wall. Traverse the picturesque Karanga Valley, reaching Karanga Camp at 4,035 meters (13,199 feet). The campsite provides a strategic location for acclimatization and serves as your haven for the night.

Day 6: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

Embark on the final ascent through the alpine desert to Barafu Camp at 4,680 meters (15,354 feet), your high camp. Prepare for the impending summit attempt with an early dinner and essential rest, surrounded by the stark beauty of Kilimanjaro's upper slopes.

Day 7: Summit Attempt and Descend to Mweka Camp

Commence the summit attempt under the cover of night, pushing toward Stella Point at 5,756 meters (18,885 feet) and ultimately reaching Uhuru Peak at 5,895 meters (19,341 feet) as the sun rises. Descend to Barafu Camp for a brief rest before continuing the descent to Mweka Camp at 3,100 meters (10,170 feet) for your final night on Kilimanjaro.

Day 8: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate and Departure

Descend through the enchanting rainforest to Mweka Gate at 1,640 meters (5,381 feet). Conclude your remarkable journey by completing park formalities, receiving a well-deserved summit certificate. Transfer back to Moshi, celebrating your accomplishment and reflecting on the unforgettable experience on Mount Kilimanjaro.
