Day 1: Machame Gate to Machame Camp

Your trek kicks off at Machame Gate, situated at 1,490 meters (4,890 feet). The trail meanders through the lush rainforest, gradually gaining altitude. As you ascend, immerse yourself in the vibrant greenery and unique flora. By day's end, you'll reach Machame Camp at 2,980 meters (9,777 feet), nestled in the heart of the forest, marking your first night on the Machame Route.

Day 2: Machame Camp to Shira Camp

Venture further into varied terrain as you ascend through the rainforest and transition into the heath and moorland zones. The landscape transforms, offering glimpses of the Shira Plateau. Your journey culminates at Shira Camp, perched at 3,840 meters (12,598 feet). Here, beneath the expansive sky, you'll spend the night surrounded by the unique beauty of the Shira Plateau.

Day 3: Shira Camp to Barranco Camp

Embark on a day of diverse landscapes, traversing the Shira Plateau with its lunar-like features. Your ascent takes you to Lava Tower at 4,630 meters (15,190 feet) for acclimatization. Descend into the Barranco Valley, where the iconic Barranco Wall presents a thrilling yet challenging climb. Reach Barranco Camp at 3,960 meters (12,992 feet) for an overnight stay.

Day 4: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

Conquer the Barranco Wall, a highlight of the trek, leading to the Karanga Valley. Traverse this unique landscape en route to Karanga Camp at 4,035 meters (13,199 feet). As you settle in, take in the surrounding high-altitude environment, preparing for the summit attempt in the days ahead.

Day 5: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

Ascend further into the alpine desert, reaching Barafu Camp at 4,680 meters (15,354 feet). This high camp serves as your base for the imminent summit push. Amidst the otherworldly scenery, enjoy an early dinner and crucial rest in preparation for the challenging ascent to Uhuru Peak.

Day 6: Summit Attempt and Descend to Mweka Camp

Commence the summit attempt around midnight, navigating to Stella Point at 5,756 meters (18,885 feet) before reaching the iconic Uhuru Peak at 5,895 meters (19,341 feet) for a sunrise celebration. Descend to Barafu Camp for a brief rest and then continue to Mweka Camp at 3,100 meters (10,170 feet) for the final overnight on Kilimanjaro.

Day 7: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate and Departure

Descend through the enchanting rainforest to Mweka Gate at 1,640 meters (5,381 feet). Conclude your trek with park formalities, receiving a well-earned summit certificate. Transfer back to Moshi, where you can celebrate your accomplishment and reflect on the incredible journey through Kilimanjaro's diverse landscapes.
